Training Opportunities

Child Care Resource and Referral of Clackamas County offers unique training opportunities for child care providers.

FREE Overview Class

The Overview Class is an Oregon Child Care Division requirement to become a registered Family Child Care Provider.

This class offers information on:Image of Child at Computer

  • Child Care Division (CCD) procedures.
  • The Department of Human Services (DHS) Subsidy program.
  • The USDA food program.
  • Marketing tips.
  • Professional development.

Quickstart Classes

Quickstart is a way to receive the trainings required for new and renewing child care providers in a one-day workshop. You may take only the class(es) you need. These classes include:

  • Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect
  • Distribution of the Food Handler’s Packet
  • Pediatric CPR and 1st Aid

Family, Friends, and Neighbors (FFN)

Image of Adults & ChildDo you care for a relative’s or friend’s child? You may be eligible to attend a free Family, Friends, and Neighbors DHS Orientation. Come network with other providers and find out about the great services CCR&R can offer you.

  • Orientation attendees will receive:
    • A child care kit with a CD of fun songs and activity cards with ideas to use with children in your care.
    • A stipend of $24.00 dollars just for attending.
    • An opportunity to receive scholarships and stipends for additional workshops.
    • The latest information about receiving payment through the DHS child care subsidy program.
  • You must meet the following criteria:
    • Be an unlicensed child care provider.
    • Be listed with DHS or willing to accept the DHS child care subsidy.
    • Be enrolled or be willing to enroll in the CCR&R database.
