Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can I get an estimate for my work order?

A. Please feel free to call CESD Print Shop for an estimate. This also gives us an opportunity to ask questions, offer suggestions, and perhaps save you some money!

Q. What are the standard paper sizes?

A. 8 ½˝ x 11˝ (basic copy machine paper size), 8 ½˝ x 14˝ (legal paper size), 11˝ x 17˝ (tabloid). Maximum size for copiers: 12˝ x 18˝. Maximum size for press: 11 ½˝ x 17 ¾˝.

Q. Should I send an electronic file or a hard copy?

A. Both! We welcome electronic documents, and an accompanying hard copy (via Courier* or fax or scan) will allow a cross-check to avoid font or image issues. Jobs with screened areas print much better using an electronic file.

Q. What are the NCR (carbonless) color sequences?

A. Various sequences are possible using uncollated NCR stock. Call for current availability and price. The most common and economical way is to use the standard pre-collated stock:

  • 2-part: white, yellow or white, pink (please specify yellow or pink when ordering)
  • 3-part: white, yellow, pink
  • 4-part: white, yellow, pink, goldenrod
  • 5-part: white, green, yellow, pink, goldenrod
  • 6-part: white, blue, green, yellow, pink, goldenrod

Q. Can I print in full color (such as a color photograph)

A. We can print full color on our Konica-Minolta Bizhub PRO color copier, typically for short runs due to the cost per impression. For longer runs, spot color is more economical. 4-color process jobs may be outsourced.

Q. Can you print to the edge of the page?

A. All jobs need at least ¼ inch margin on all sides. If you have a project that needs a bleed, we can print on larger stock and trim to the finished size.

Q. How long will my job take?

A. Delivery dates can be influenced by the size of the project and the current workload. Small to moderate sized print ready jobs can be ready in one to five days. Large quantities, jobs with multiple bindery steps, or jobs needing graphics and proofing may take longer. Call us with your desired date, especially if you have an event scheduled, and we will do our best to meet your needs.

Q. How do I get my finished job?

A. CESD jobs are delivered to district offices by the courier (Tuesday and Thursday). The districts then deliver the jobs to the schools/departments on their schedule. We can also call you when your project is finished and arrange for pick-up.
