Inclement Weather

In the event of an emergency closure of Clackamas ESD occurring outside of normal business hours, Sunnybrook staff will be contacted via a CESD phone tree. Closure decisions will be communicated to managers by telephone prior to 7:00 a.m., who will in turn contact personnel using assigned phone trees.

In addition, announcements will be made via the School Announcement Network. Virtually all television and radio stations broadcasting in the Portland Metropolitan area will carry closure information. Information will also be listed on the internet at www.FlashAlert.net.

Emergency conditions that require closure of the CESD offices during normal business hours will be communicated to employees, in person, by department managers whenever possible. The Superintendent's office will also initiate a broadcast voicemail message, post the information on the CESD website, send information via an “everyone” email, and use the School Announcement Network.

School-based staff will respond to closure notices issued by the host district.

In the event that there are closures in Clackamas County School Districts but CESD remains open, the following procedures will be in effect:

K-12 Special Education staff will follow closure notices issued by the host school district. Heron Creek Academy and Merrick School staff will follow closure notices issued by Lake Oswego School District. Cedar Bough staff will follow closure notices issued by Oregon City School District.
K-12 related services staff and all Early Childhood staff will report to CESD unless their assigned school remains open.
Staff members who are in areas where travel during inclement weather is problematic may use emergency leave or vacation time to cover the missed day.
